IS KAMBÔ FOR ME?

Kambô is extremely safe but it's not for everybody. Often people feel called to work with the frog and for most of us, Kambô comes to us when we need it and feel ready to sit. It's an intense but rewarding experience that requires surrender and trust - in the frog, yourself as the healer and the practitioner.  There are a number of risky contraindications to consider before sitting and if these apply it is likely there are other healing modalities or lifestyle changes which may be better suited to you. Please carefully read the follwing:

If any of these conditions apply. you are NOT eligible for Kambô:

  • Have serious heart problems.

  • Are on medication for low blood pressure.

  • Have had a stroke.

  • Have had a brain haemorrhage.

  • Have an aneurism or blood clots.

  • Are pregnant or maybe so or are breast-feeding a child under 6 months oldLack the mental capacity to make the decision to take Kambô.

  • Have serious mental health problems excluding depression, PTSD and anxiety.

  • Are undergoing chemotherapy, radiotherapy  or for 5 weeks afterwards.

  • Take immune-suppressants for organ transplant.

  • Have Addison’s Disease

  • Have low levels of cortisol in the blood

  • Have current and severe Epilepsy

  • Are recovering from a major surgical procedure

  • Have used Bufo in the past 6 - 8 weeks

  • Are under 18 years old
     

Extra caution is required in the following cases, It’s important to disclose any of these prior to your session:

  • People with active drug or alcohol addictions.

  • People taking slimming, serotonin and/or sleeping supplements.

  • People taking immune-suppressants for auto-immune disorders.

  • People who have been fasting/water-fasting for 7 days before (or after) Kambô.

  • People who plan to use a sauna (FIR or other) or practice hot yoga 3 days before (or after) Kambô.

  • People who have had enemas, colonics, liver flushes or any water based detox 3 days before (or after) taking Kambô.

  • People who have been using distilled water for detox/fasting.
     

It’s also important to disclose any of the following prior to session:

  • If you’re taking or have recently stopped taking any medications.

  • If you’re taking or have recently stopped taking any diet/slimming pills.

  • If you’re regularly taking anti-diuretic medication or sports drinks.

  • If you have ever been, or are currently bulimic or anorexic.

  • If you have a history of seizures or fainting. 

  • If you have abnormally high or low blood pressure.

  • If you have liver or kidney problems.

  • If you have any chronic or serious health issues.

  • If you have asthma.

  • If you have Type I or Type II diabetes
