HOW DOES KAMBÔ WORK?

In Indigenous communities Kambô is used to gain strength, boost immunity, maintain or regain health, and heal disease. It's often applied before hunting to increase strength, health, stamina and vision. They also use it for rainforest specific issues, such as malaria, yellow fever and snake and spider bites. Immediate and short term effects include enhanced mood, alertness, clarity, focus, energy and increased resistance to stress and tiredness.

As it is one of the strongest natural anti-inflammatory, antibiotic, antimicrobial and anaesthetic substances found on the planet, there are endless physical benefits to Kambô. It helps to strengthen the immune system, start the detoxification process of the liver, kidneys and intestines.

Kambô contains numerous peptides that provoke the destruction of pathogenic microorganisms and strengthen the immune system through the body’s production of antibodies against the secretion. These peptides are showing great power in the treatment of Parkinsons and Alzheimer Disease, AIDS, cancer, depression, addictions, PTSD, hormonal imbalances and many other diseases.

During the 1980's, Italian scientist and Nobel prize nominee, 'Vittorio Erspamer of the University of Rome wrote that this secretion contains a ‘fantastic chemical cocktail with potential medical applications, unequaled by any other amphibian’.

Among the several dozen peptides found in Kambô, 9 are so far discovered to be bio-active. They bind with receptor sites situated in the brain, triggering chemical reactions in the human body. So far, researchers have found nine bioactive peptides that have a potent effect on the gastrointestinal muscles, gastric and pancreatic secretions, blood circulation and on the stimulation of the adrenal cortex and pituitary gland.

Dermorphins and Deltorphins are opioid-like peptides with a strong analgesic, pain-blocking properties and have a potency of up to 1000 times that of native endorphins and 30-40 times the potency of morphine. Despite their potent opioid receptor activity, neither dermorphin or deltorphins show evidence of dependence or abuse potential. In one human study, dermorphin outperformed morphine as a post-operative pain drug. Deltorphin shows evidence of having gastroprotective effects that are mediated by interaction with the vagal nerve implying that this opioid peptide may have neuroregulatory properties.

POTENTIAL THERAPEUTIC POSSIBILITIES: MANAGEMENT OF VARIOUS KINDS OF PAIN, INFLAMMATION, MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES, PTSD, DIGESTIVE ISSUES, AUTOIMMUNITY ETC.

Dermaseptins have incredible antibiotic activity and have been found to be incredibly effective against event the most resistant bacteria, viruses, fungi, and protozoa. Dermaseptins have a promising future as medications given their ability to kill pathogens selectively without harming animal cells. Dermaseptins are also extremely effective at killing cancer cells and inhibiting their growth. Some dermaseptins may increase permeability of the blood brain barrier, making it of interest to drug delivery development.

POTENTIAL THERAPEUTIC POSSIBILITIES: TREATMENT OF PATHOGEN-CAUSED DISEASES (THE LIST IS ENDLESS), CANCER MANAGEMENT, PARKINSONS, ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE, MENTAL HEALTH ETC.

Phyllomedusin is a peptide that interacts with the tachykinin system in mammals. This system is important for regulating the release of neurotransmitters such as serotonin and dopamine. Phyllomedusin also causes the rapid contraction of intestinal muscles and is a potent vasodilator, which may also lead to an increase in vascular permeability through the blood-brain barrier. -Thompson, C., 2020

POTENTIAL THERAPEUTIC POSSIBILITIES: TREATMENT OF ADDICTIONS, DEPRESSION, ANXIETY, PTSD, CIRCULATORY AND NEUROLOGICAL DISORDERS ETC.

Phyllokinin interacts with the bradykinnin system, which causes relaxation of smooth muscle. It is also a vasodilator and may influence blood-brain permeability. This peptide causes a rapid drop in blood pressure. -Thompson, C., 2020

POTENTIAL THERAPEUTIC POSSIBILITIES: TREATMENT OF HYPERTENSION (HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE) AND CIRCULATORY ISSUES

Sauvagine influences cortico-releasing-hormone system and the pituitary-adrenal axis, which is important for modulating stress, mood and impulsive behavior. Sauvagine also causes intense tachycardia, or increase of heart rate. -Thompson, C., 2020

POTENTIAL THERAPEUTIC POSSIBILITIES: HORMONE BALANCING, MANAGEMENT OF STRESS RESPONSE, VARIOUS MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES SUCH AS ANXIETY, DEPRESSION, ADDICTIONS, PTSD, OCD, EXHAUSTION ETC.

Phyllocaerulein stimulates the adrenal cortex and pituitary gland while causing gall bladder contractions and secretion of gastric and pancreatic juices. Phyllocaerulein and phyllokinnin contribute to hypotensive effects of Kambô and why some people’s blood pressure drops dramatically in the process.
